Are electric vehicles the solution to climate change, or just a temporary fix?

Why or why not?

EV batteries use trace minerals and there is a lot of mining going in Africa to get these materials. I do not think EV can actually stop climate change in the long run.

Probably not but they can get nations away from oil which often seems to be a result of combat.

That's very true. However, fossil fuel is just one product of oil industry, we get a lot of things that we use in our daily life including plastic

Plastic is nice, but man, it's bad for us too. We take in a lot of it when we drink from bottled water. Soda bottles especially. Soda is like an acid, it breaks down plastic even if just a little at a time.

Plastic is one of the things that come form oil industry, even if we stop using plastic we will sill need oil rigs for cosmetic products. There is no way we could completely stop oil mining.

I'm sure you're right. And I don't think we'll ever get away from plastic.
