How’s life treating you all in forum-land? It’s been a while since I popped in. I had a heart attack a few months ago, which threw everything off track for a bit. Took some time offline to focus on recovery and getting back on my feet. Thankfully, I’m doing much better now (mostly).

Just wanted to drop in, say hi, and share a little reminder: don’t play chicken with your health. If something feels off, don’t wait it out. Get it checked! “Wait and see” isn't the smartest move.

Anyway, glad to be back. What’s new with you all? I'm digging the new forum software, btw. I'm a VB loyalist but XF just looks a lot more sharp and modern.

Wow man! Glad you’re okay! Gotta take care of that heart.

Did they say why it happened?

VB is great software but v6 still needs work. I’m hopeful it will get better. I still have a few licenses and might try another forum out. I was hoping vBAdmins would had worked!

Severe "mitral valve regurgitation" -- not as weird or uncommon as it sounds.

As a die-hard user of vB for many years, I think a lot of us are still in denial about its future. The trajectory of development is completely stagnant, and most so-called "improvements" barely move the needle when it comes to actual user experience, especially for non-admins. Their support team is cool, but they're powerless to make decisions about its future. Sure it's a step up from Day 1 vB6, but frankly that's a low bar.

Even with a 50% discount on dirt-cheap hosted plans (if offered again in December), I can't justify a renewal or the effort to move it to self-hosted vB. We've officially pulled the plug on deadmedia.live, and I never thought I'd say that.

I've been alright. I had a rough go earlier this week with having to say goodbye and putting my older dog to sleep. I've been processing and grieving since then.

In August, we lost our house cat. She and I were close. I'm still hurting over that one. Unfortunately, about a few weeks before that, I unexpectedly lost my dad. It's been a rough summer.

That’s a brutal stretch, losing your dad and your pet so close together. Hope you're finding some solid ground again.
I'm getting better, but it still hurts. I talked to him, trying to get him to go to the ER a few hours before he passed away. I just found out he was sick the day he died. It was a sickness that antibiotics would have likely fixed, but he's stubborn (I am too, but I have a wife, and she would make me go to the ER), and he died as a result. 65 years old and just retired. :(

Most guys treat their lawns better than their own health. Priorities are seriously out of whack.
Yeah, that's true.

It makes me want to start doing better. I have to get a colonoscopy. I'm not 50, but my family has a lot of stomach/colon cancer and problems in the colon, so my doctor said I need to get it done now since I'm at high risk.

I also think my blood pressure is out of whack. I get dizzy a lot lately.

Well... a little bit of a panic right now.

My dad's house finally sold so the house will close in November. However I am having a hellluva time trying to get his HOA's name and information to fully close the house for good. It's the only thing I don't know much of. Sadly the house is 3 hours away from me so its not like I can knock on his neighbors doors until I can figure out a trip to head down there.

I have been trying to see how I can obtain the HOA but the websites to look it up require login and all sorts. I may have to just get a hold of the county and see if they have public records to the property itself. Hmm maybe the the lender may know.

I’m way out in the country. There is no homeowners associations around here by the looks of videos. I see about them on YouTube. I’m kind of glad for that.

Work stress for me is way better than it used to be.

I used to work doing business intelligence analysis for a place 1.5 hours from my house. Made that drive 5 days a week. Stressed me out completely.

Now I'm 20 minutes from work.
