I've had type 2 diabetes since 2012 and I am just starting to learn the repercussions of not listening to my doctor and not having my medication for so long.

I've got bad eye sight because of it but I am getting that dealt with next month through a bit of laser work and an eye injection. I'll be put to sleep though.

Does anyone have diabetes or any family that has it?

No diabetes in my family. Mainly just heart and gut problems. Most of the time, gut problems lead to cancer. My gut is giving me a lot of bad times -- IBS-C and GERD.

I don't have diabetes, however, about a year ago, my father was diagnosed with diabetes and now I am very careful with that I eat.

Are you bigger at all?

I have a friend who has it. Once he started losing weight and getting his blood sugar in order, his eyesight significantly improved.

My weight always stays between 80-85kgs regardless of what I eat :o

If you don’t, and you start to gain a lot of weight, you can end up losing limbs. That scares me the most.

I see how well Wegovy is helping people around the world and it's available in New Zealand but only for the rich or those on health insurance which can be expensive in New Zealand if there's pre existing conditions.

For the average New Zealander Wegovy costs $500 or so a month NZD. The government is open to funding but Wegovy hasn't made an application yet.

I just get so nervous about medication.

Call me paranoid.

I just don't want to try something unless I absolutely have to. But if the shit hits the fan and I can't get those meds anymore, then what?

I can tell you this much: It's been at least 15-20 years since I've had antibiotics.
