Can you sleep under the stars?

I'm talking right out in the open. No tent. No tarp over you. It could be a sleep pad on the ground or even in a hammock.

Can you or do you do this? Why or why not?

I like the stars, and I try to during my tour. I must see the nightlife, but if we're talking about without a tarp, then I think this is an unpostable thing for me. But if we're talking about the sleep pad, I think this is the possible thing, and during my North Rim trip, I enjoyed this thing. By the way, this is the same question for you: which thing is comfortable for you?
