It looks like that you can no longer buy Junk food with food stamps anymore. Things include soda, chips, candy and other items are on the chopping block soon as well. They are aiming for more home prepared meals.

Is anyone affected by this, how do you feel that a thing like soda being just an expensive treat now?

EDIT:

A 2016 USDA study using point-of-sale data found that 23 percent of purchases by SNAP households were sugary drinks, desserts, salty snacks, candy, and sugar, which is generally called junk food. With SNAP purchases of more than $100 billion a year, that would mean more than $23 billion of junk food a year.

I agree with getting rid of junk food on food stamps!! Good job to whoever did that.

junk food is junk, like chips/candy, money should be used towards main meal ingredients (that are important) and fruit/veggies. Things that help you and won't cause more issues.
What about for people that have dietary needs? That food costs more. Should they be considered?

For example, if you have Alpha Gal, you have to have foods not ever prepared with other foods or it can kill/harm you. That usually means you have to have specialized food which costs more.
